COASTodians

A COASTodian, helping visitors to enjoy their visit

An exciting new way to get involved with looking after special places on the Welsh coast

Do you have a favourite National Trust place on the Welsh coast?

Would you like to help look after it?

The COASTodian initiative is just what you’re looking for.

The COASTodian initiative provides opportunities for people who love the Welsh coast to play an important part in its care. It’s a flexible and rewarding way to get involved with looking after our coastal places and learning about the work of National Trust.

How do I get involved?

The easiest way to get involved is to turn up at one of our COASTodian taster sessions. By sparing a few minutes of your time to help one us carry out a conservation task, you will become a COASTodian and receive a Welcome Pack with ideas on how you can help the Welsh coast. Simply look out for these events at our popular sites and join in.

If you are familiar with a particular National Trust place – a beach or stretch of coast – and visit it regularly, you may be interested in becoming a Community COASTodian. We have opportunities around the coast for individuals or families to become COASTodians. Your role would be to regularly visit the site, help other people enjoy their visit, check the condition of paths and inform the local Ranger of any problems.

"I visit my site whenever I can, making sure it’s clean and tidy and reporting any problems to Kevin our local ranger. I find it a really enjoyable way of doing something great for one of my favourite places"
